Conservation · Meeting of August 4, 2026

BOLTON — The Bolton Conservation Commission voted 3-1 to authorize its conservation agent to submit comments on proposed state wetlands regulations ahead of an August 10 deadline, while tabling a request to treat invasive knotweed at a Berlin Road property until August 18. Chair Brian Berube led the roll-call vote on the Department of Environmental Protection's "1.5 revisions"; members Su Mittra and James Geraghty joined him in support, while Scott Geer voted no after asking, "are we running afoul of open law?" over reviewing the letter outside a posted meeting. Wetland scientist Doug Dillon of Goddard Consulting asked to treat a roughly 150-square-foot patch of Japanese knotweed at 220 Berlin Road with a cut-and-inject herbicide method; the commission asked for a written narrative to approve as a field amendment instead of reopening a hearing.

Members also voted 4-0 to authorize a new "Taking Back Nature" outdoor education program for children under 5, and approved April 7 minutes 5-0 and July 21 minutes 3-0 with two abstentions.
