Bolton Housing Production Committee examines housing affordability gaps and community needs. The committee reviewed findings showing Bolton's population of just under 6,000 faces a significant gap: median home prices around $900,000 versus median renter income of approximately $42,000. Gloria Huangpu of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council presented data showing the town's housing stock consists primarily of large single-family homes, largely owner-occupied, with limited rental and affordable options.
Bolton's senior population increased 50 percent between 2010 and 2020; approximately 22 percent of senior households meet income thresholds for affordable housing. The committee identified seniors, people with disabilities, renters, and families with children as priority groups and agreed to develop surveys and community partnerships for an updated 2026 housing plan.
