Conservation Commission Continues Sugar Road Accessory Dwelling Unit Hearing
Conservation Commission · Meeting of January 20, 2026
Bolton Conservation Commission defers decision on proposed Sugar Road accessory dwelling unit pending environmental review. The commission continued its public hearing on a proposed 1,199-square-foot ADU at 455 Sugar Road, with applicants Zhao Wang and Sha Zhu proposing the structure at the corner of Coventry Wood Road and Sugar Road. The Department of Environmental Protection raised questions about the project's location within a Riverfront Area offset and filing fee classification; applicants submitted an alternatives analysis that the commission will review at a scheduled site visit.
The commission unanimously authorized its Conservation Agent to submit a MassTrails Grant application for Bower Springs Earthen Dam Trail Maintenance, which would fund critical maintenance on two dams at one of the town's most-used conservation areas.
