Bolton Select Board votes 2-1 on FY2027 operating budget

Bolton Select Board splits 2-1 on FY2027 budget over school spending. Board Chair Kate Buyuk voted against Article 4, agreeing with Advisory Committee member Don Cole that the school district has not presented a budget within Proposition 2.5 spending limits, using state funding windfall outside normal constraints after the town passed a 1.9 million dollar override last year. Selectmen Bill Nickles and Brian Boyle supported the budget.
The board voted unanimously to close the May 4 town meeting warrant and approved early voting May 4-7. Representative Kate Hogan updated the board on Governor Healey's proposed 63.4 billion dollar FY27 state budget and thanked town officials for prior approvals; Selectman Nickles raised concerns about transportation costs for special needs students.
